From 19 to 22 September, Looiersgracht 60 will participate in the 2024 edition of Amsterdam’s GLUE Festival, a four-day design route that connects the public to the city’s dynamic creative scene. As part of the festival programme, Looiersgracht 60 invites you to a sound event that accompanies Sophie Rowley’s first major solo exhibition titled"Repetition is a Form of Change.” Experience a unique live presentation of a sound piece created through the collaboration of visual artist Sophie Rowley and DJ and sound artist Rami Abi Rafi. The sound piece delves into the nuances of repetitive movements inherent in Sophie’s artistic process and features live sounds, field recordings, and spoken word elements that capture the rhythmic nature of her work. The sound piece will be performed at 4 PM. The presentation is followed by a 45-minute ‘quiet listening and viewing session’ of an ambient collage created by Mathilde Neuville. These weavings of sounds invite you to traverse the exhibition space while absorbing the works in a deeply immersive atmosphere.

“Repetition is a Form of Change” opens on September 18 and continues until October 20, 2024. Inspired by her departure from a fundamentalist community and the unravelling of its doctrines, Rowley’s work over the past two years has been a profound exploration of the structures that shape our internal and external worlds. Touching on themes of identity, gender, power, and society, the exhibition features two site-specific installations and will include a second public programme event on October 20, 2024.

During the festival, Looiersgracht 60 will also host the first Temporary Gallery of Metamorphoses Objects. From 19 to 22 September, Metamorphoses Objects will present a meticulously curated selection of works from renowned and up-and-coming makers in the Netherlands and beyond.

The sound performance begins at 16:00 on September 21, 2024, and is followed by a 45-minute listening and viewing session by Mathilde Neuville. This special event will provide a unique opportunity to meet the presenting artists, witness the exhibition, and visit the Temporary Gallery during GLUE.
