MASieraad Graduation Show
16 June – 18 June 2023
Looiersgracht 60 is pleased to announce the MASieraad Graduation exhibition. The exhibition will open on Thursday June 15 from 19:00-22:00 and will be open for public viewing from Friday June 16 – Sunday June 18 from 12:00-20:00.
The exhibition will present the works of nine graduating students, their mediums spanning from jewellery, objects, installations and performance. The distinctly international group of graduating students have built a presentation of works from their two years of instruction and engagement with MASieraad. The works all stem from questions of identity, as well as geopolitical and ecological issues. Central to the pedagogy of the programme is a consistent conversation around the object’s relationship to the body and human involvement with the material world.
MASieraad Hasselt-Amsterdam is an educational initiative from Gijs Bakker, Ruudt Peters, Ted Noten, Liesbeth den Besten, and Aldo Bakker, as graduation tutor. The programme extends the conventional frameworks of jewellery design into a larger landscape by questioning objecthood, scale, viewership and the relationship to the body. The programme was initiated with the two-year Temporary Master Challenging Jewellery (2018-2020) at the Sandberg Instituut in Amsterdam. Beginning in 2021 MASieraad partnered with PXL-MAD in Hasselt, offering wide access to many technical resources and the extensive network of the MASieraad teaching team.
Exhibiting students include:
Yotam Bahat
Jana Brevick
Ana Escobar Saadreva
Daniel Jirkovski
Meeree Lee
Jinzi Liu
Laila Marie Costa
Into Niilo
Yifan Zhang
