Special Exhibition Tour with artist Steffani Jemison

Looiersgracht 60 and De Appel are delighted to announce ‘Decoders-Recorders’ – a double solo exhibition by New York based Steffani Jemison and Hong Kong based Samson Young. Both artists investigate distinct forms of notation, gesture, and alternative languages to articulate suppressed social histories and contemporary predicaments.

Exhibiting artist Steffani Jemison will lead a public tour of ‘Decoders-Recorders’ on 7 July; further articulating the ideas behind her work, such as the physical expressions, stories and codes of black vernacular history in America, Jemison will converse about her extensive practice in relation to the exhibition as well as situate it within a broader context.

The public programme will start at 16:00 on the 7 July 2019, followed by a Q&A with the audience, after which the event will close with some drinks. Admission is free. Please reserve a seat by emailing: valeria@looiersgracht60.org
